LIVEPulse (“the App”) provides live and historical storefront analytics (“the Service”) to merchants who use Shopify to power their stores. This Privacy Policy describes how personal information is collected, used, and shared when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store.
This is the public privacy policy for the App Store listing. It is not part of the embedded Shopify admin app.
Personal information the App collects
When you install the App, we can access information from your Shopify account through these APIs:
- Web pixel (
write_pixels): we install a Shopify web pixel so the storefront can send visit events to the App. - Customer events (
read_customer_events): we receive storefront events such as page views, product views, carts, checkouts, and purchases. - Products (
read_products): we look up product and variant availability when a shopper views a product, so the App can show out-of-stock issues. - Orders (
read_orders): we use order information only as needed to attribute purchases in analytics.
Shopify OAuth also stores a session for your shop so the App can open in admin. That session may include the shop domain, access token, and, if you signed in with an online user session, staff name and email from Shopify.
Information collected from store visitors
After install, the web pixel sends storefront activity so you can see what is happening on the shop. We store:
- An anonymous visitor id and optional session id from the pixel
- Event type and time (page, product, cart, checkout, purchase, search)
- Page URL, referrer, and UTM source, medium, and campaign
- Product or variant identifiers when the event is about a product
- Device type (for example phone or desktop)
- Visitor country derived from the request IP or hosting country header; we do not store the IP address
- Optional risk signals used only to label traffic quality (not sold or used for ads)
We do not store names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, payment details, or Shopify customer accounts. If the pixel or a URL includes those fields, they are stripped before anything is saved. We do not create customer profiles and we do not sell data.
Cookies and similar technologies
The App uses Shopify’s web pixel on your storefront. Shopify may place cookies or similar identifiers on shopper devices as part of that pixel. We use the anonymous client id from those events to group a visit. We do not run third-party advertising pixels, and we do not use visitor data for remarketing or targeted ads.
This public website does not set its own tracking cookies. Shopify admin sessions for merchants use Shopify’s authentication cookies.
How we use this information
We use the information only to provide the Service: live visitors, activity, carts, funnels, historic reports, billing based on unique visitors, and customer privacy requests from Shopify. We do not use storefront events to advertise to shoppers or to other merchants.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We share data only with processors that host or operate the Service, and only as needed to run it:
- Shopify, for authentication, billing, webhooks, and the web pixel
- Fly.io, for application hosting (primary region Frankfurt)
- Our database and Redis providers, for stored events and live presence
- A mail relay, only when you submit the support form, so we can read and reply to that message
We may also share information to comply with law, to respond to a lawful request, or to protect our rights.
Where information is processed
The App is operated from the European Union (Fly.io, Frankfurt). Shopify processes merchant account and billing data on Shopify’s systems, which include Canada and the United States. Database and cache providers may process data in the EU and in other regions where those providers operate. If you are in the EEA or UK, this may mean a transfer outside Europe as needed to run the Service and Shopify billing.
Data retention
Storefront events are deleted automatically after 90 days. Short-lived “who is on the shop now” presence keys expire within minutes. Uninstalling the App, or a Shopify shop/redact request, deletes stored visits for that shop. OAuth session records are removed when the shop uninstalls. Support messages are kept only as long as needed to answer them.
Customer privacy requests
If a customer asks Shopify for a copy of their data or to delete it, Shopify sends us a webhook. We look up anything this App stored that matches identifiers in that request and handle it. A download for the merchant appears in the App’s Settings page only when Shopify sends a data request.
Your rights
If you are a European resident, you may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Merchants can uninstall the App to stop collection and remove shop data. Shoppers should contact the merchant or Shopify for storefront privacy requests; we honor the GDPR webhooks Shopify sends us.
We process merchant information to provide the App under the Shopify Partner and App Store terms, and storefront analytics to pursue the legitimate interest of showing the merchant what is happening on their shop, using anonymous visit records.
Changes
We may update this policy to reflect operational, legal, or regulatory changes. The date at the top of this page will change when we do.
